Bio-Plastic PLA IML R&D Studies
Our R&D laboratory is working intensively to develop IML applications on bio-plastic PLA and other biodegradable films. Pilot production successful.
As part of our R&D work for sustainable packaging projects, we are testing IML applications on bio-plastic PLA films. PLA's behaviour in thermoform and injection moulding processes differs from conventional BOPP; these differences require specialised adjustments in printing parameters and curing times.
Following 4 months of lab testing, 6-colour + LED UV printing on 70 µm PLA film was successfully achieved in pilot production. Colour accuracy hit the ΔE < 2 target; label-package fusion gave parallel performance to conventional BOPP under test conditions.
For customer-specific bio-plastic IML projects, our R&D team can launch the evaluation process.
