Thermoform IML
Optimised BOPP for thin-film thermoform
Thermoform IML works on the principle of placing the label in the mould during the thermoform process — where plastic sheets are heated and shaped. The label printed on thin-film BOPP forms an adhesive bond with the surface as the heat-softened plastic wraps the mould — the result: a single-piece, peel-resistant, premium-looking package. Thanks to high-volume production economics and broad sector compatibility, it is the IML technology of choice for yoghurt, ice cream, margarine, cheese, ready-meal, cosmetic and skincare packaging.
Production Process
Offset printing on thin BOPP film, automated die-cut.
BOPP foil heated, vacuum-pulled into mould; label placed simultaneously.
Label fuses to package surface via heat.
Combined form trimmed, packaged.
Advantages
Full colour + durability on 60µm BOPP. Lower grammage reduces material cost and carbon footprint.
Oxygen + light + moisture barrier BOPP options — extends shelf life for sensitive dairy and ready-meal packaging.
Label stays bonded at fridge (+4°C) and freezer (-25°C) temperatures, print does not fade — proven for ice cream, yoghurt and dairy.
Thermoform takes you from sheet to product in a single operation — no separate labelling station. Unit cost drops, the auto-line runs 24/7.
Thermoform IML Film
